  • Garmin echoMAP 55dv CHIRP

These new Chirp echoMAP series are a real winner. Includes full charts of NZ and the ability to use quickdraw to make your own marine chart details.

These replace the very popular previous echoMAP series and look the same but the very important difference is the inclusion of CHIRP sonar. Complete with its own transom CHIRP transducer (GT22-HW). These transducers are designed for shallow water with their wide beam width - absolutely unbeatable under 40M, with fish spotting up to about 80M. If you want to go deeper you can swap the transducer out for a GT23 - good for fishing up to about 150M or so.

Fish with the power of CHIRP on a 5" screen

Now it's even cheaper and easier to fish with the power of CHIRP sonar. The Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 55cv comes preloaded with Australia and New Zealand BlueCharts and includes the transducer for high wide CHIRP sonar and CHIRP DownVu, which gives it the clearest scanning sonar on the water. With the Garmin QuickDraw Contours software coming factory installed on these units, you can instantly create your own HD underwater maps while you fish. And with the high precision internal 5 Hz GPS, your position and heading is updated 5 times per second. The included cables plug directly into the unit's mount, meaning you can quickly and easily install and remove the device from your boat when it's not in use.

The Garmin CHIRP Difference

The echoMAP 55cv includes built-in capabilities of CHIRP sonar, the most sophisticated sonar technology available for consumer fishing and boating. Providing extremely clear target separation and definition, CHIRP works by putting more energy onto the target than traditional sonar, meaning the information it receives back is far more detailed and accurate.

Clearest Scanning Sonar on the Water

With Garmin DownVu sonar, you get a nearly photographic image up to 100m below your boat. This allows you to clearly see submerged objects, structures and fish. Both the Traditional HD-ID sonar and DownVu scanning sonar are combined into the supplied transducer.

Create Your Own HD Maps

Included in the software on the sounder is Garmin's free and easy-to-use feature - Quickdraw Contours. This software allows you to easily and instantly create your own High Definition underwater charts using just your sounder and transducer. The best part about this is that it's all done internally on your unit as you go, there's no need for any extra computers or software. This makes it extremely easy to use, so you can focus on your fishing.

Note:The echoMAP 55cv and 55dv are the same model. 'DownVu' (dv) is now known as 'ClearVu' (cv), hence the name change. The pysical unit and all functions remain the same between models.
